I drove the supporters minibus to Darlington in Nov 1987,the game was called off at 1.45pm(frozen pitch) we managed to get to Middlesbrough to see the game against Barnsley.Ironically the pitch at Ayresome Park was not much better, but the game went ahead..Boro won 2-0
Yes remember it well me and my mate Shaun were on the minibus too that day you drove it Russ, Ayresome Park with all its spikes on the fences to stop people getting on the pitch. I seem to remember a copper telling us when we got to Darlington it was off but all of us on the minibus thought he was joking!!

A real pain that must have been...Quite a lot of interest in the game iirc,Northampton were top & the Grecians were unbeaten in the league.
Were you on the coach that ended up at Newport v Middlesbrough that afternoon ?
Sorry to butt in chaps, I was on that coach. In terms of the match, finding it hard to predict this one, I fancied us last week but that was a big let down. I actually think we might lose this one, cannot remember the last time I predicted a loss, 2-0 to Northampton

I'm sure I saw us win there a few years ago. Came from behind to win 2-1 IIRC, with John O'Flynn getting a late winner.

Yes,the motorcycle escort was waiting in a lay-by..The copper radioed ahead to arrange for me to park at the Police Station by the ground & he was told it had just been called off.He was as gutted as we were..

Apparently, according to Spotlight, we’re hosting Northampton tomorrow.

We're all a bit muted by last weeks disappointing result. Matt Taylor learnt a valuable lesson about having some steel in the team, we don't have much in the squad. Also need to get some goals from the front line in stead of hoping for speculative goals from long range. Hope Law and Boateng are available, we'll win 2:0 Boateng, Law.
