Can St Mirren cancel Scotts loan and send him back or do they have to keep him until the end of the season?

We are not allowed to play him for the rest of this season if his loan terminates early. So I would have thought there was no possibility of us allowing them to send him back.

Do St Mirren have a signed contract with Scott for next season? After his 4 month loan / ‘trial’ and according to reports/fan reviews isn’t really doing it, could we see JS at a different club come July?

I'm only making assumptions but I assumed the loan rather than signing him outright in Janaury was to give them a chance to see if they would offer JS the new contract at the point we will be releasing him.
