Snoop, it actually was in response to something Fred wrote about not getting quicker the older you get. Up to a point of course he is correct but Christie and other athletes show that speed can be increased well beyond our Jack's tender age.
Should we be prescribing Linford Christie as an appropriate role model for Jack?

Wanted to make a similar point, but was struggling to find a suitably tongue-in-cheek way of raising it. I'd always had an image of your academy as a wonderful beacon of nurturing and developing young talent; as opposed to the training regimen of the GDR ;-)

Maybe not, as our Linford got done for failing a drug test which finished him.
But just to make the point again, Jack Sparks still has plenty of time to work on increasing his speed.

Agreed, just tell him to keep off Linford's 'ginseng tea'.

Sigh! Today's discussion about Jack Sparkes has been tacked on to a thread from 2019 that until today had only one post on it.

Far better to have posted this lot on the thread from 2018 that had 211 posts. Or the thread from 2017 -also with the title 'Jack Sparkes' - that gathered 64 posts. Those threads give a better perspective and history.

Thought that Jack, today, was a prime example of youthful inexperience. Last week he produced a sublime cross that helped win the match; this week he rushed his crosses, on numerous occasions, and generally made really poor decisions. As they say, "you can't put an old head on young shoulders". However, this season should be invaluable experience for all our young players.
