Australian GP next weekend thankfully back to a Sunday race day
The good news was that Ferrari looked competitive with RB all weekend which seemed to force RB into the wrong direction. It would have been interesting to see how close it would have been between Verstappen and Sainz. Probably back to normal service next time out but great for Sainz to win after his op two weeks ago.Plenty going on down under in Melbourne this morning, Verstappen’s long winning run finally coming to end after rear brake problem forced him to retire on lap 4….Ferrari then romped home for a 1-2 With Sainz fully in control of the race after Max’s retirement…Good pace from Norris in the McLaren to come home in third.
It has been coming for a while now…Lando finally had the piece of luck he deserved with the safety car coming out on the perfect lap for him…What was so impressive though was that McLaren beat the Red Bull fair and square on pace after Lando’s pit stop.Brilliant race by Lando to get his first F1 win. Those upgrades on the McLaren looked pretty handy. I expect Max will be back to normal ways soon after not getting the set up right, but at least McLaren and Ferrari look like they have pace to keep him honest if he and Red Bull are a bit off.
To be fair Lando was quickest on track before the pit stop as well, even on fresh hards Max wasn't reeling Lando in on old mediums. Also Max couldn't get away sufficiently from Oscar Piastri earlier in the race and Oscar's car only had half the upgrades. It has been coming for a while now…Lando finally had the piece of luck he deserved with the safety car coming out on the perfect lap for him…What was so impressive though was that McLaren beat the Red Bull fair and square on pace after Lando’s pit stop.
