If we can put in a good performance and get the win today, I'll have high hopes of a strong second half to the season and a comfortable mid-table finish. It would indicate to me that the team are indeed getting it together - but I don't think we can draw any such conclusions from victory against bottom club Chesterfield...

Come on City!

Temperature 6c, but the south easterly breeze has strengthened, and is now blowing at force 3. Cloud cover has broken, abot 70% coverage, and really pleasant when the sun is shining. A chilly afternoon at SJP seems a likely prospect.

Completely useless fact: Reginald Hill the author of the Pascoe and Dalziel books died on Thursday. R.I.P. His father played for Hartlepools (as they were then called) from 1932 to 1936,,,,,,

Hartlepool have a very good win rate on the road. Won 6 of their 12 games, drawing 3. But have won only 4 times in the last 16 outings, with 1 draw. So not in great form. Hope we can capitalise on any lack of team confidence.

That first goal will be all important. Please let it be for Exeter.

Team sheet shows the same starting line-up as started last week. So Coles still on the bench. Logan and Nards up front with Bauza tucking in behind.

Jake Taylor on the bench instead of William Jones.
