Champions League innit
I did think that, but the CL is played over Tues & Weds.
The only team I can think of who still kept to a Wednesday was Chesterfield(not sure if they still do)

Thought it was managers favouring Tues. Sat is 3.00pm, mid-week 7.30/8.00pm. Recovery periods maximised arguably by Tues evening games. But a close call.

Prior to it's expansion weren't the CL/European Cup Games just Weds, ?

Possible that Wednesdays were chosen for midweek football because of the old 'half day closing' of shops. Although I believe City were fairly late in adopting Tuesday for midweek games.

Just before we bolstered our strike force by signing Alan Banks!

I think the Grecians switched from Weds to Tues midweek games in 92/93.

Was that the game of the fabled Robson overhead kick?
