Even if, in a hard-nosed professional sense, Gary thinks this is just another game he’s astute enough to drum into the players the added significance of it to the supporters and publically acknowledge, through his words and actions, that he gets it too.
This all falls under the modern term of correctly reading the room.
Sensible management in my book.

I think you're reading to much into it. It really wasn't a dig, I completely understand why it is being done, It is just not an approach I am a fan of. I understand why it is being done and get that side, just in general when sides over egg these games, it tends to fall back onto them badly. Lowe in 2019 being a good example. Either way as long as we win then whom really cares about the approach.
You realise Lowe's approach was exactly what you're advocating don't you? Just another game...who gives a shit about Exeter...

I suspect that GC won't be bothered in the slightest that you are never likely to join up to his "Only Fans" account should he ever start one ! :p
FWIW, I on the other hand am absolutely delighted with his recognition of what this game means to us. I want us to show the passion and effort on the pitch. "More power to his elbow " !
I run his only fans. The accent alone is a gold mine.

Let's hope we get a massive win today. I think people read to much into things at time. My comments where just a personal preference of how to approach big games. Cambridge in the playoff final massively bought into setanta cameras, lowe in 2019 made stupid comments about us are two examples of focusing on the occasion rather than the substance.

My experience of overstating games in this way is it normally comes crashing around you. But let's hope today proves otherwise as I have numerous argyle supporting friends whom I am planning weeks of ridiculing if we get a win today. It imho plays to the opposition, especially when Argyle are under immense pressure to get a result with their season crashing around them.

If we win Caldwell will be a hero and deservedly so imho. I hope he's a hero at 1500

Sigh. His comments were I'll informed and stupid. Thus creating a simple team talk. It created something unnecessary. Cambridge bringing the cameras in. It adds unnecessary pressure

It's about recognition without going overboard. If we lose today, our build up will look completely overboard imho. But look let's wait n see. As stated elsewhere, GC will be a hero. Let's hope he's a hero.

Some managers do this and fair play, everyone approaches things differently and as said, mine is a personal opinion. I recognise why and understand, it's just not for me
