I think the best thing the club could do is make block A of the NOG available for ALL matches to provide a bit of value for money for away supporters...as much as the away end has been improved it’s still along way behind most away sections in league 2...most provide decent all seater stands with good views of the pitch....I don’t think we’re suddenly going to see a couple hundred more on the away following by trying to promote the restaurants and stuff like that that Exeter has to offer.
We provide two blocks of seating (approx 350?) in the IP Office and some 900-1000 covered standing places for away fans. How is this inadequate? - or as you say "a long way behind most away sections in league 2"

I understood the away seating in the IP Office stand was only temporary while the away end was been redeveloped the away seating block used to be in the OG....the new covered standing away end is a long way behind the away stands at places like Mansfield, Northampton, Colchester to name a few even Stevenage have an all seater stand for away supporters.

Think you're wrong about the IP office seating being temporary. The choice of both seating and standing for away fans is not universal.

Take your point RD. I don't expect for one moment that you are going to get that number show up, but lets say that you get 20 per game, that would result in an extra gate money alone of £4k plus, before accounting for secondary spend on programmes, catering outlets, and bars etc. The point of including info about the City in general, is really about the distance they have to come, and perhaps highlighting the possibilities of making a weekend of it. That way even if they get a hammering on the pitch, as long as they have a good time, they may be tempted to come back and even encourage a mate or two to join them. At present the perception could be coloured by past experience of getting soaked, never mind the rudimentary ancient toilet facilities !
Agree with your points

My thinking was let them go back to their friends and family and big up our better facilities after a wasted journey:) that way they may be more likely to return with a couple others next time.

I've had some feedback from away fans since the redevelopment started - a fair few were miffed at not having the opportunity to stand and having to pay £6 more for seats so they'll be pleased now. There was concern that the new terrace would still be a few yards behind the goal so they'll be pleased that it's closer to the goal than before.

It's true that other clubs have better away stands still but ours was one of the absolute worst before and has improved by some way with better catering, toilets and nice area behind the stand looking onto St James Road.

I agree with the tenor of this thread and it will be important to push the improvements to away clubs and fans. I'm pretty sure we do send something to the away Supporter Liaison Officers and we've been getting better scores and feedback season by season from away fans who are surveyed by the EFL as part of their Family Excellence awards.

Any ideas for improvement would be welcome at the club and if you want to email them to [email protected] I'll happily forward to the match day and media teams.

I’m assuming we won’t open the terrace when there aren’t many away fans so the handful of fans from eg Macclesfield will still be disappointed.

I made some enquiries and the Club were already on this. New guides for away fans, first timers and the rest already in place and more in the pipeline.

As Spoonz says, send ideas to the Club - Scott Palfrey and Richard Knight are on the case!

They will indeed bring very few on a Tuesday night in November. If we do only offer IP Office stand seats, they will do the same when we visit. We can of course only open the smaller section of the away end and serve both from the Stand turnstiles.

This looks much better John. I do hope they get a better picture of the centre spot though, the one they've used does its no favours,. Also I hope when the away end is open, that they get some better pics of and from the stand. Oh and big up the FECRACE, its the best bar in football!!!!!
