Is it any coincidence that Hartridge's dramatic improvement in form and consistency has coincided with him playing alongside McArdle? Might he be learning more from him (for some reason) than he did from Sweeney and Parkes? It's a bit reminiscent of Steve Basham's nurturing of Adam Stansfield in the immediate aftermath of Mackie's departure down the A38
Must also help having a player of the quality of Lewis Page on the other side of him.

& don't underestimate the confidence an accomplished goalkeeper, behind you, will give you.

He has still only started 12 league games for us.

The more he plays the better he will be I think.

I'm sure right about this. I said it earlier in the season: both Parkes & Sweeney are not that vocal. Whereas, McCardle is constantly talking to Hartridge, which surely helps his positioning & decision making.
Agree that we are quiet, think Matt Taylor is addressing this by shouting from the sidelines. Vocals on the pitch are important, remember Rob Edwards constantly instructing and shouting at TAH when he was a newby.

I remember a few fans offering advice to Danny Coles, it didn't seem to help his game !

I think he (hartridge) is doing ok during his little run in the side. Mcardles experience is helping AH game massively and while I don’t expect these two to start every game they are doing a job atm Hartridge will play more as/when and is certainly something we can work on too over the next 2/3 seasons as a left footed centre half. parkes will return to the fold soon and be a important part in the run in but hartridge will still have a role to play by all means

Mcardle, Sweeney, Stubbs, Parkes and Hartridge not bad combo of CBs to pick from looking forwards to next year. If all contracted etc that is.

Not a chance, other than Stubbs and possibly Parkes we’d be relegated with that combo of players - in league 1*

Yes, I wouldn't be taking Parkes, Sweeney and McArdle into league 1.

Not a bad way for a young central defender to celebrate his 22nd birthday...third consecutive start yielding three consecutive clean sheets!
