No idea whether we've offered to pay up his contract but there probably wouldn't be much incentive for him to take it. Remaining contracted, he still gets paid and has access to all of the club's facilities and staff which he'd lose. If he isn't fit, match fit or even close to match fit, then he isn't going to walk into another club so he might consider that he's better off staying put for now.

Can someone explain to me why Taylor has to say anything at all?

The question was asked back in January and an answer was given. Asking the same question now makes no sense.

Aside from the frustration of not using/not being able to use Ajose, this situation can"t be very good for what remains of his playing career.
Not sure he's got the attitude, application nor aptitude to remain a footballer tbh. Maybe he should consider a change of career more suited to him. Something working from home maybe?

Isn't he using his "downtime" to study at Uni? Well ahead of the game is our Nicky.

Apparently he's doing leisure studies and ECFC have provided a work experience placement.

I don't think there can be much doubt that Ajose is on (in Exeter City terms) loadsamoney.

The interview from MT on Ajose signing says (from 1.30 onwards)

'he's in demand'

'centre forwards don't come cheap'

'centre forwards who score goals don't come cheap'

'I have got to thank the Board for putting forward the budget..'

Is there no end to this farce?! What exactly is Taylor admitting when he says it’s his (Ajose) prerogative if wants to train or not? How can he refuse to train if he is not injured? Taylor tells him to train, he says no because of the state of his knees. He’s sticking two fingers up to the Manager, who signed him at great expense, and the Club. He should be sent away from the Club till his contract ends. You can not turn around and say your denying him the right to train and get fit. It’s not a gym. The purpose of training is be ready to play. He can’t train, so he’s useless to us and costing us a fortune.
When some semblance of normality returns and we have the Fans forums again Taylor should be asked to explain exactly how we got into this mess, how it was allowed to continue and why our hands have been tied in trying to resolve it in favour of the Club.

We gave him a long contract because he was viewed as player we could build a team around. We discovered a cartilage problem with his knee in September 2019, and he underwent surgery in October and has been on the fringes ever since because of ongoing issues with his knee. He has made it clear he isn't exactly happy with the situation, but stopped short of speaking unprofessionally about Ajose. Thats how we are in this mess, we can't release without Ajose's agreement, what else do you want Taylor to say?

Maybe there's a question to be answered over whether the injury was foreseeable, but again calling out backroom staff is hardly professional. MT is focusing on life without Ajose, as we probably should too!
