Agreed, this is the sort of number crunching I used to do for the Club's Gates Committee.

I'm glad someone else is doing it now and not me!

But very time consuming. When I researched all the other L2 teams ticket pricing to advise the Board on ours, it took me days to put all the information together and make a coherent recommendation. Every club seemed to have a different strategy, reflecting their customer base and stadium capacity / configuration. Colchester had 3 different structures depending on how long before the game you bought the ticket.

Wow, that must have taken a lot of time. Clubs are definitely changing the way they sell tickets, like you say, tiered systems, loyalty, capacity, seats/stands etc.

An I right in saying the CGC is now gone? I wonder what has replaced this?

Nothing, the Club decided it was no longer needed. I used to enjoy doing the attendance predictions and writing commentaries for the matchday programme, but I guess this is not missed that much nowadays.

I assume the new finance guy now does this sort of "granular" analysis.

Surely the title of this thread is somewhat dated, as we don't appear to have many "Gems" to sell, and if they take a leaf out of Archie's and Josh's book we don't have any choice in selling them anyway their agent's do.

This said I assume we are still hopeful of sell ons from some of the youth that have moved on such as Alfie Pond, Ben Chrisene, Jordan Storey, Matt Grimes (?) and possibly Josh Key once his settlement is announced

Also now we have breached the 6k target on a regular basis (I know it will fall off as the season drifts to an anticlimax) we have had no advice of the benefits these attendances are reaping, only assumption that it has been made available for the squad. and what contingencies are being put in place for the potential downturn in attendances how do the club hope to keep them at this level and is this still the target as if I recall this was set when we were a fourth division club?

It feels after the past couple of seasons that crowds of 6000 are not enough (alone) to sustain league one football long term but without knowing what our actual player budget is compared to the other league one sides and what money individual players are on, it's hard to make an informed judgement.
