Not the prettiest of wins, but a marked improvement from the Oxford game. Diabate made the world of difference.

I must admit I'm concerned with Brown's form. He hasn't looked himself at all since MT's departure. We really need him working for the team and dropping deeper into midfield. Otherwise a better team will overpower us.

Key produced that bit of quality needed in a game where both sides lacked in quality.

A gritty win is exactly what we needed.

I hope Nicholson is giving the 4th official some grief over this ref.
I was - he was sheltering from rain most of the match !

It was a better second half for us as we were braver with Jack and Jake pushing further forward onto their full backs and going man for man at the back. Fleetwood could pass the ball around well when given space out wide as they were in the first half. Thankfully we defended our penalty area well, nice to have Cheick back slotting right back in alongside Hartridge and Key who read the game much better today. A lot of credit has to go to Archie and Harry for tracking third man runs which could have caused us all kinds of problems.

Equalising rapidly was also a key to the win today as it quelled any potential unrest. It was one of the few times in the first half we could counter attack effectively by winning the ball higher up the pitch. Stanno and Sam worked it well.

The second half still needed a couple of committed blocks by Hartridge and co but we looked better attacking wise with Jack in particular providing a good outlet down the left. Ironic that the goal came from the right but possibly not so surprising that it was from Key's more direct approach.

These games without so many centre backs and midfielders available have highlighted quite a lot but one of the most important is the combination between Sweeney and Key down the right side. Sweeney gives us a lot of control in possession and always an outlet to deliver a quality cross. We have certainly missed this with Key and Caprice having to fill in. Whilst Key might not always have things go his way at least everyone knows he is going to be direct. Jake is much more unpredictable with too many touches and cutting back. It must be difficult to judge your run with him on the ball at times.

A tough decision might lay ahead for the new manager. With players coming back 🤞 do we go back to a midfield three which gave us good success earlier in the season. Apart from the FGR where the formations were matched up, we have not had the same control of games as we had earlier. Also we are more predictable. Teams were struggling with our midfield rotation and late runs into the box from any of the three. Midfielders tracking runs isn't so common these days despite Archie and Harry doing it so well today. Something to ponder over.

Considering Fleetwood have only conceded more than 1 goal in a league game once this year, I'm not sure what makes you think that!!

This was a good 2-1 win that we had to grind out. Well done to KN and John Hill and hopefully both still have a part to play at the club moving forward when the new Manager comes in.
I’m sure they will, back to their youth roles etc..what they were brought in for and qualified to do.

Think it was just cramp. ie fit to play not match fit just yet.

Josh's run for the 3nd goal was wonderful to behold.
No it wasn't. There was a long ball out to the left that he won but was jumped at and then landed on by some Fleetwood striker.

Good result today and defence much more solid with Diabate back.
Please can someone tell me why Caprice starts and stays on the pitch when he offers nothing. Today we we’re overrun in midfield and should have taken him off bought on Tim or even Harper. He seemed to be the obvious one to substitute but stays on and almost costs us the game. Key had one opportunity and showed how it should be done and a goal for Sam.
Any scout/analyst works out easily that all Caprice does is run down the line then stop, dither and defenders can take the ball off him. Then as he does not cover back leaves hole behind that Key or Sweeney has to cover.

But who do you drop to allow us to play the extra man in midfield? Possibly Jevani on current form but would we lack a creative spark without him on the pitch.
