Exeter City Sign Keeper Shaun MacDonald

Exeter City have signed a goalkeeper on a short-term deal. Shaun MacDonald has signed until January 2024 and was on the bench yesterday for the Grecians.

The signing allows Harry Lee to remain on loan at Weston-super-Mare and will provide cover for Vil Sinisalo and Gary Woods. Vil was absent yesterday on international duty for Finland and Gary Woods started against Leyton Orient.

The 26-year-old started his career with Gateshead in 2015 in the National League, moving to Blyth Spartans but didn’t make any appearances for Blyth. His career really started with a move to Torquay United where he made 70 appearances. He had left Torquay and even trained with Exeter in the summer of 2021. He’d considered leaving football altogether but a call from Torquay’s boss Gary Johnson meant he rejoined the Gulls and went on to be their player of the season.

Shaun MacDonald then went on a free to Cheltenham Town in the summer of 2022 but was restricted in game time to four EFL Trophy games for the Robins.

Shaun will wear the number 30 shirt.
