Jack Sparkes Signs for Portsmouth

Having announced that he wanted away from Exeter City after 14 years in the Academy and the first team Jack Sparkes has signed for League One side Portsmouth.

22 year-old Sparkesy has signed a two year deal with Pompey and an option of another year.

Pompey boss John Mousinho said of Jack:-

Jack’s an exciting talent who enjoyed a huge amount of success in helping Exeter get promoted to League One a couple of seasons ago.

We think that he’s ready to kick on, fitting the age and profile of player that we’re looking to bring to the club and develop.

He’s a really versatile left-sided player and has good attacking qualities that complement what we already have in the building.

In an interview with Portsmouth, Jack explained his move

This is a big club to come to and when that offer was on the table, it was something I really wanted to do.

To hopefully be part of something special and get Pompey promoted to the Championship is a massive attraction.

In order to improve myself, it was important that I found somewhere new and this is the right place for me.

My best attributes are crossing and shooting. I like to get balls into the box to create chances, but can also do the defensive work as well. There are a lot of challenges – I’m moving away with a young family and have to get to know all the lads. I also want to get the best out of myself.

But there’s a big fanbase here and it’s a club that should be higher in the leagues, so it’s something that excites me.

The best of Jack Sparkes
