Mixed Reaction to Exeter’s New 3rd Shirt

The new shirt was launched nearly a fortnight ago before the Bournemouth friendly game. It hasn’t met with critical acclaim.

While the shirt has tried to emulate the colours of the Brazilian club side Fluminense, it has meant that the sthird_shirt_pic1hirt contains green stripes. For Exeter City fans this is not reminiscent of the colour of grass, the colour of the Devon flag or indeed the colour of the Old Grandstand, but that of our League 2 rivals Plymouth Argyle. The red on the maroon shirt looks a bit odd. But it is a quality Joma shirt and something different for City fans to get hold of.

While the green has put some buyers off, it’s unclear whether they’d have bought the shirt anyway. The shirt was unveiled in Princesshay before the Bournemouth game, and the players were present to show it off. The Trust had volunteers running a stall and they sold plenty of shirts. As did the club shop.

The shirt retails for the normal £30 for youngsters and £40 for adults. The shirts are a bit small for the size they describe, so if you’re in third_shirt_pic6the habit of wearing your shirt over a jumper, etc then go up a size of two. Remember, if you’re a Trust member you can have 10% discount in the shop.

The shirt is also available online in the Club shop at http://shop.exetercityfc.com/collections/kit/products/exeter-city-fc-new-3rd-shirt?variant=4720819265

It’ll be interesting to see how often it is worn. The current away strip which is black with orange trim is well liked, but rarely worn by the team, as it’s not popular with the manager Paul Tisdale.
