Further Games in Rio for Exeter City and Entertainment for City Fans
As part of Exeter City’s historic trip to Rio de Janeiro, games in additional to the Fluminense match are under discussion. A further game in Juiz de Fora, against Tupi FC, who play in the third division of the Brazilian national league and the Club are also in discussion with Madureiras, the Rio-based club, founded in August 1914 and playing in the third division of the national league.
Exeter City are also hopeful of a game against Grêmio Esportivo Brasil, another third division club which plays in the South of Brazil.
Exeter City are confident that a finalised schedule of games and venues will be available this month.
It also hoped that discussions with the Confederation of Brazilian Football (CBF) that is a possibility of a match against the Brazilian Olympic XI to celebrate the historic 100 year link. However, the pressures of the World Cup may prevent that from happening.
There is also a possibility of a game for the City squad on the beaches of Rio against a Rio Beach League selection. A game that will surely test the skill and stamina of any City player.
For the fans, then Rio Cricket Club would like to stage a game against City fans at their headquarters during the tour.
