Southend Head to Portugal Ahead of Visit by the Grecians

Exeter City are due at Roots Hall next Saturday (15th February) for a League 2 encounter with Southend United. Despite all the financial problems that the Blues have struggled with in recent seasons, they’ve been able to afford a trip away from a rainy southern England to sunnier climes.

The jaunt is for 4 days with the players and coaching staff leaving this morning andSouthend United v Exeter City 2010 will return on Wednesday. As with many other teams, training on grass has been difficult these last few months, and the Boots and Laces training ground will have been no different.

Blues manager Phil Brown had this to say on the trip:-

It’s a great opportunity for us to get away and work on a few things before we welcome Exeter. A change of scenery is always a good thing for the players, but we’ve not really been able to train on grass recently.

This will give us a great chance to do all of that, while improving the already fantastic team spirit. The January signings we made will also have another chance to get to know the group even better.

The trip will be very beneficial in setting us up nicely for the final third of the season, and a busy couple of weeks especially.
