Only drawback is he seems to break quite easily.Changed the game at Orient. In the right mindset (and with the right instruction), he can be a force to be reckoned with. Pleased to see him staying on.
Pretty much this. If this season has shown anything it is the need for a strong squad and players like Yan fit into it well. It will be interesting to see if a full pre-season helps him more.I'm pleased with this for the reasons others have given. Last season proved we need a big squad and players who can make an impact off the bench. Will be really useful in 3 game weeks (Sat-Tues-Sat), off the bench and for the occasional surprise start, which will catch the opposition unaware.
(interesting that this was an option in his favour, rather than the club's. I suspect it was this that held up finalising his extension in January)
I wouldn't have been fussed if he'd been released. The only defence he has for his woeful stamina is not having the chance of a pre-season with us last year. I don't know if Oxford allowed him to train there?Pretty much this. If this season has shown anything it is the need for a strong squad and players like Yan fit into it well. The appearance record with the four free agents signed after close of summer deadline on 1 September is appalling. Between them ((Yanic,Caleb Watts,Jack Fitzwater and Shaun McDonald) they started the grand total of 18 league games, of which Yanic accounts for 13. Need to get the squad sorted much earlier than September.I wouldn't have been fussed if he'd been released. Anyway, if he has a full pre-season this summer and still can't manage 90 minutes (or lasts 90 minutes but was only effective for 45) then this IMO is a mistake.
But good luck to him.
Given the sheer amount of signings we needed last summer, it was always going to be a difficult job getting them all inside the window. 20 signings by January all told which gave us a competitive squad (although effectively 18 with Trevitt going back injured and Muskwe not featuring). This season the numbers required won't be so drastic with 13 first team squad players already signed and hopefully a couple more to come. The appearance record with the four free agents signed after close of summer deadline on 1 September is appalling.
