To my memory the bins were bigger. You coudn't empty a dustbin into one of those.
TV Series The Dustbinmen. Couldn't remember it much until I read in Wiki that one of the characters thought Colin Bell was a God which seems familiar.

The Grecian supporting character the late Maurice Wright was a Dustman in his young days I seem to recall.

That is quite alarming.
Also I remember seeing loads of different Butterflies when I was a child, a neighbours front garden always attracted them..Rarely see them at all now

Plant a Buddleia in your garden. The butterflies will soon find it.
