Should the Number 9 shirt be retired for good?

No, but some permanent memorial should be made. He was a lovely man, the club's top scorer ever in the league and he and Alan Beer were by a country mile the best striking pair I have seen play in City colours (indeed, outside the Prem/ old Div 1, one of the best I have seen full stop).

On his day her was almost unplayable.

A great loss and really put a damper on what was until I heard this a rather joyous day.

Agree 100% that we should retire the shirt in expression of the love city fans had for these two players!

If i had to agree with you we would both be wrong
Once the number 9 shirt comes out of retirement it will be something for the players at that time to look up to and try to wear with the same pride that others have worn it have done

sorry its a no from me

No

Otherwise Jay Stansfield won't have the chance to wear it in 10 years time, if he's good enough and wants it...

I think shirt retirements are totally sentimental and the answer should always be no. Life goes on even after the worst bereavements.
Absolutely spot on. Keeping the number is a better reminder than retiring it.

Death is all about life
