Regarding trade with the EU, we must remember that 45% of our trade is with the EU, but it's not 45%of the trade of each individual member i.e. potentially we lose 45% of our trade but each member state doesn't potentially lose 45% of theirs. So imo we are in the weaker, "more desperate" bargaining position.
You mean 45% of the UK’s external trade of course.

That is the only important kind of trade. Nobody gives a crap about internal UK business. It's small beer.

Apparently the average trade deal takes around 6-7 years of negotiations (IINM).

So, under the Boris deal, any goods arriving in NI will need proof that they are not moving
on to the EU. Is this correct?

And of course anything that is imported from non-EU countries and then exported onwards to the EU as a a whole or as part of a product will have to checked to see if it adheres to the EU's strict rules.

Yes really. Internal UK revenue exists regardless of the status of economic trade. It's not part of the equation because it's just a constant. The only thing which will happen is the cost of goods and services will change and our effective market capitalisation becomes tiny over night.

What equation is UK internal trade not part of?
