If you think that politicians making things up is bad...

Until yesterday, staff were told that they were not to wear masks other than with covid19 positive patients, as it was not necessary.

Yesterday a truck of PPE was delivered.

Today they are told that it's essential to wear masks at all times.
Jesus Navus 🤦‍♂️

You really could not make this up.

WHO are thinking of changing their advice on mask wearing after some positive research in Hong Kong according to reports this evening

Almost as good (bad) as Gavin Williamson's messages.
March 17
"The current medical and scientific guidance indicates that at this stage, schools and other educational settings should remain open".
March 18
"... the country is now at the stage for schools to close their gates".

Another thing to mention, for the love of god don't have a cardiac arrest.

They aren't allowed to administer cpr until a special team turns up, in full protective gear.

Kiss of death anyone?!?

And at this point, I think it's wise that I no longer drop these things in on the thread.

They can be fired for disclosing info, and M is quite worried I'm talking too much.

Where to start with this...https://m.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/coronavirus-tests-for-sale-online-criticised_uk_5e85aa94c5b60bbd734f83e3

So you have private companies carrying on selling tests and the government not procuring all availability from companies in the UK. Isn't it about time the government looked to create temporary emergency ministerial positions such as Minister for Testing, Minister for Procurement etc like they had in WW2 headed by specialists in those fields (ie doesn't have to be even a politician). It would help streamline and bring together a truly national effort between public and private sectors with information going directly into COBR which can then be forwarded to the public.

If only someone like Jeremy Hunt has promised whistleblower protection to NHS staff.

Oh.

Members of all organisations are bound to request more money, things to do and power. What needs to be done is to get value for money which is easier said than done. It is also a question of deciding how much the country can afford in terms of the whole range of services provided by the public and private sectors for the government and how to allocate it. Those choices are political decisions and approved or not at general elections.

I am sure you are right about waste where Government is involved. I worked for the MOD one summer and was staggered at the number of civilians "employed" who had bugger all to do most of the time. I think I worked about a 3 or 4 hour day and we played cricket on Friday afternoons. Twas a long hot summer thank goodness because sitting in a wooden hut on Bovington Camp and reading a book would have driven me nuts. 11 hours a day 6 days a week the next two summers in a privately owned business on a holiday camp !

There is waste in the private sector of course too.

I agree the lack provision of PPE and the shambles over testing beggars belief and I have already posted elsewhere that I want just honest facts and no spin from the Ministers who waffle on daily and do not answer the questions. I would actually have more respect for them if they said "We were not fully prepared for this COVID-19 thing, have not got everything right and need to do better" ..........and then get on and make it happen. I would quite like an interviewer to say "Just answer my feckin' question you useless waffling, waste of space." It might shake the to55ers up a bit.

I am getting as angry as Indo and it ain't Friday :)
At last you've woken up and smelt the coffee, Ali. Hopefully you will be supportive of any Indorants in the future.
