Billy Hughes(70) Sunderland captain who lifted the FA Cup in 1973.
What a shock that day was.
Mid table Sunderland beating Leeds who were one of the best sides in Europe at the time.

Ian Porterfield scoring.Jim Montgomery’s save from Lorimer,Bob Stokoe running on the pitch.i remember it all.
Don't ask me what happened in last years cup final !

Sorry to hear that. Class player who used to ghost into scoring positions. Quiet bloke. RIP Martin Peters.

Very sad news indeed. I see he had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

A fine midfielder who at one point became Britain’s first £200,000 player on moving to Spurs from West Ham. I fondly remember his goal in the WC final in 1966 that put us 2-1 up.

RIP Martin.

Another one of the '66 team to pass away, As with the others of that team seemed a gentleman off the pitch, On the pitch a great footballer. Should of had a knighthood IMHO as all of that team should have. RIP
