Sparkes and Ampadou were never going to sign contracts with City ,Kwame made sure he boy wouldn't, as an ex-pro he knew the score and i think Sparkes Dad realised the same ,being tied at a young age to Exeter would always result in a " Transfer fee "to get away and i'm afraid anyone with any savvy and hope for their siblings future would take the same stance ?,our loss again ,but no one to blame .

accidentally went to the beginning of this thread and amused by the references to Jack Sparkes being monitored by big clubs and compared to Ampadou. Things didn’t quite turn out that way!

I think Billy Gilmour is a good yard stick; similar age, came in from another club young, made some apps for Chelsea before going out on loan to a Prem team (same as Amps went to Sheff United)

Whilst Gilmour managed 11 apps v Amps' 1 for Chelsea, Ampadu can boast of playing Champions League football for Leipzig and three seasons in Serie A.

Gilmour went to Brighton for £9m last summer.

Ampadu has also played in the World Cup for Wales and is a regular squad player for them. In my mind he's £15m+

We’ll use one rule to separate teams level on points at the top of the table and a completely different rule to separate teams level on points at the bottom of the table. The mentality of the people who make the rules in football beggars belief at times.

Interesting approach towards Amps, constantly getting caps for Wales, but turning into a relegation specialist,be interested to see where he does it sure for hell won't be Chelsea !
