Bopara batted well today , but 11 scores of 50 in 101 ODI's isn't enough for someone who generally bats in the top 6

Luke Wright ? 2 scores of 50 in 50 ODI's ! he's a Twenty20 specialist really.

Why isn't Ian Bell playing ? Morgan will obviously come in when fit , Trott hopefully as well if he recovers.

Also why do England keep picking Tredwell or Dernbach , both are 2 of the worst bowlers to have played for England in a long time.

Putting the fun and the mental back into fundament
So the one day side won something at last.

Does this mean that England have turned a corner or that the Windies were as awful as I expected them to be?

A little from Column A, a little from Column B. The Windies aren't "awful" by any means, but they're a side we *ought* to beat.

Jos butler continues to improve , surely not far away from the test side , even though I think Prior should be given one more chance this summer....

Root will be a top player in time.

West Indies are crap as well.

Dernbach - honestly how does this bloke keep getting selected , 5 four's in an over...36 conceaded off 4 overs...standard 9 an over stuff..

and Luke Wright's shot first ball was a disgrace , 50th Twenty20 cap , along with 50 ODI's for him as well...

How England continue to pick Dernbach , Tredwell , Wright , and the like when they don't perform is unbelievable.

Ben Stokes looks like a man who's forgot what he's doing as well , 2 overs for for 30 runs , and his shot when he was out stumped or pretty much run out was a pub players swoosh.

Agree with you about Dernbach and Luke Sh*te but Tredwell's 4 overs with one wicket cost only 16. Not too shabby.

I'm not a fan of Derndross but we saw in his last over why he got selected in the first place. Don't know if he has overcomplicated things or is just awful but he moved away from what got him selected - his ability to bowl yorkers with a variety of different deliveries spot on time and again. Strange that he has become undroppable - perhaps he is the only one willing to bowl powerplay and death overs?

Tredwell is an intelligent bowler and, in reality, is the best spinner we have. Somebody like Borthwick would get annihilated in the sub-continent and be under pressure to deliver.

Feel a bit sorry for Luke Wright. Agree his form has been dire for England for a while but he was devastating in the Big Bash down under - and that was largely taking international bowlers apart. If he isn't considered a bowling option (and given Broad was injured and Wright still didn't bowl I assume he isn't) then it is hard to see how they can justify picking him but one thing I would say is that he is a far more selfless batsman than some of the others in that side. Admittedly we don't get to see if because he keeps getting golden ducks...but ya know...There is an argument for trying out Ravi at 3 and shifting Wright down to 6 or 7 as a finisher given he seems hopelessly out of form but I imagine he will lose his place completely.

The see Ravi as the finisher apparently , when your 50-5 you cant finish feck all.....

KP is simply miles ahead of any of those being selected currently
