Maybe people were genuinely concerned that the academy pipeline wasn't being looked after properly?
The facts didn't point to what many were suggesting. The hand Gary inherited with Archie and Josh leaving regardless and Kite and Hartridge having turned down contracts before Gary even started wasn't an indication of someone who didn't want to continue with our academy. There were many who didn't want Caldwell as manager and were vocal in using anything as a stick to beat him with regardless of whether he was to blame imo

Well, you can argue all day long about it, but I think it's a good starting point to assume people are coming at it in good faith, whether they're right or wrong. Wasn't as if people were really struggling to find sticks to beat Caldwell with, at the time.

Really excellent way that engages the players and the fans and mainly youngsters with so many happy faces. Whoever came up with this idea a year or two ago take a bow

Agreed - these young Grecians will hopefully become future Exewebbers and support the club through ups & downs.

.......... and Sinisalo did well and could do nothing with both goals. We will miss Sinisalo.
Wow! That first goal? I thought better of you!

Was it a penalty? probably, but as a good striker he trails his leg just enough to buy the foul.
That’s why they call it “winning “ a penalty

Steve Neville was a expert at that.

I can't think of many players who had the referee write a piece in their testimonial game programme, but Roger Milford's piece for Nev's always sticks in the mind. All about his expert penalty winning technique and Roger's inability not to award it 😁
