Obviously i don't condone violence or disorder but i have more 'respect' (maybe not the appropriate word) for those groups of hoolies that arrange a fight in a field somewhere and then just meet up and kick the crap out of each other than the general ***** who just goes into a town or city, gets hammered and starts causing trouble and abuses and attacks anyone from the police to passing mothers pushing their kids in prams.

The behaviour of Brits abroad is generally quite disgusting without chucking a football match into the mix. The thought of going to a popular resort in Spain or Greece turns me right off and seeing the people leaving this country from the airport I work at makes me cringe. The standards are so low now that I will never, ever go to an England away match.

I know what you mean Billy. I went to a resort in Spain about 15 years ago and hated every minute of it. Couldn't wait to get home. If i go abroad now i tend to go to places where i the chances of running into other Brits and their behaviour is minimal.

I'm off to Svalbard in a few weeks........(rofl)

The situation with England fans in Amsterdam simply mimics the behaviour of many, many people out on the town in any UK place on a weekend, just minus the flags.

It's a cultural problem with the British and will never go away. It is also exacerbated when you chuck in this 'island mentality' which masquerades as patriotism and then further exacerbated when you factor in that most of these perpetrators also have no intelligence.

It's certainly a heady mix.

Fans of other countries are equally as bad though so i'm not just slating the English. The Germans, Dutch, Croatians etc know how to have a drink and act like animals but with the English there always seems to be an air of embarrassment and 'unprofessionalism' about our hooligans. Like they've just got out of bed, drunk 20 pints and are just doing aeroplanes in the street and chucking random items at innocent passers by.

Go to Amsterdam with your mates, leave the flags and England related paraphernalia at home, get plastered if you wish, mix with the locals, sing football songs WITH the locals if you want but not AT the locals, mingle, enjoy, eat, learn, watch the footy and come home safe, well, having had a great time and at the same time having built positive bonds between the English and our Dutch counterparts.

That would have been my advice but hey, i'm not a neanderthal.
Excellent post Lego.

I feel much the same. If gangs of peoplewant to meet up in secret location away from everyone else and kick each others heads in, that's fine with me me and has a pleasing air of natural seletion about it as they hopefully wipe each other out. However there are plenty of far right groups eager to pray on these people and recruit them for their fascist cause just a the Nazis did in the 20s and 30s. Sadly this is often reflected in the language and chants you hear all too often coming from some sections of fans before and during internationals.
Which ever side of the Brexit debate you're on, there are plenty of politicians happ to exploit this and stoke the fires with nationalistic zeal to their own ends and as a result i think this accentuated behaviour resulting from this political manipulation by both mainstream oliticians and far right groups, may mean we will have to get used to seeing the kind of behaviour i thougjt we'd left back in the 1980s a lot more often.

If i had to agree with you we would both be wrong
Nothing to suggest that City fans were involved in the trouble tonight other than the image within the article...

Its probably one of a few ECFC flags that have attended England games home and away I always look for one of our flags when watching games.

"Personally i hope those Stone Island clad, brain dead fascist morons, with their Ladybird book of history and Janet and John do politics book, do go to Russia, because the Russian polce will destroy them and hopefully kick out their shared brain cell."

Stone Island is soo last year ! nice to see you making the assumption that all these people are fascists though, does that make you a limp wristed fish paste sandwich eating liberal who's only intention is for everyone to live in peace and harmony ? Get real.

The Russian hooligans have basically got the backing of the Kremlin so the police out there wont want to get involved until any trouble caused has calmed down then they'll go in and arrest anyone wearing an England shirt ! Let's see how many "known" hooligans from Russian get knicked ! I'll give you a clue it will be less than England fans so they can turn round at the end of the tournament and say "it wasn't our lads that were causing trouble".

No it makes me a dismantle the state and create a society where working cless people don't have so little hope that they become easy targets for right wing groups offerring them even easier targets of blame inciting them to violence and division anarchist type people who's sick of seeing people exploited in this way. I'm lots of things and as much as i do want to see people living in peace through free association and mutual aid, i'm not a pacifist.
When you hear some bunch of thugs sing 'no surrender to the KGB' or some such variation of illinformed xenophobia, as we no doubt will, maybe ask yourself where that comes from!

Ahhh so you're a fully paid up member of Antifa then. and critical of someone who has bettered themselves to a higher level of living standards, Dismantling any sort of government will in itself cause anarchy as without the state there will still be people who will have and have not but to a greater degree only in that scenario there wont be the authority to be able to help out.

Never liked the no surrender to the IRA song and haven't joined in because ive known people who have fallen at their hands. Our government at that time surrendered to those lowlifes shaking hands with terrorists like McGuiness and Adams our so called leaders should have hung their heads in shame and apologised to every squaddie who was out there during the troubles and every family who's mothers, fathers and children who were murdered in their "cause"

So lets get this right, some on here are bemoaning the behaviour of some England thugs yet are happy that the Russian police and their state sponsored hoolies will do the same at the World Cup. Makes sense.

they will be in for a true shock.. from what ive read the russian cops DO NOT hold bac personally given its overall anti gay stance and its indemic racial issues.. imo its a mistake giving the games to russia..but mever mind if either of those dont rear their head VAR will but in and help f it up OF THAT i'm sure for a startn NO REFS WILL HAVE USED IT IN COMPETATIVE GAMES. i LOVE world cups but this one has so many elements battling to help ruin it seems naive to think at least one wont kic in and help do it .
.. but no worries the russians WILL deny it, making a proportion of the world will speculate on it so all will be well. but hey lets hope i'm totally wrong and all runs smoothly .

.
Wow, that was hard to read.
