He looked great on the ball, he managed to wrong foot players while he was standing still, he didn't seem to have the confidence or pace to then beat that man. Looks good but these are castaways for a reason. There not good enough.
What are you talking about? Almost every lower league player is a 'castaway' these days. A certain Ryan Harley, for example.

Jesus. We should have just signed Fabregas!

He may not be good enough yet, but he's plainly got potential. We have to sign and develop the Ryan Harley/Jamie Mackie/Matt Taylors of this world rather than Jordan Henderson.

All part of his development. Same with the other youngsters. Will all improve with yesterday's game and having first team experience. Hopefully Callum can push on from here to be a better player.

I think the young players (Shephard, McNish, Keohane, Bennett, to a lesser extent McNichol who is still a kid) will develop over the season. Someone once said you need 10-12 games at whatever level you are playing to get to the point where the mechanical parts of the game are instinctive; then you can move on and express your individuality.

It's like driving a car; you only progress to being a good driver when you are not aware of the driving part (steering, chaging gear, braking etc) and can focus on anticipation, awareness of other vehicles, judging distance, etc.

Our younger players will be fine, and will be brought on more gently once the current injury crisis settles down. I do worry however that they might be being over-coached. No justification, just a feeling...

Always feel with Callum that he is good for the first 10-15 minutes when he comes on and then fades away.

Looks like another James Norwood in the making, i.e. a total waste of time and money.

Shame.

disagree, feel hes much better than norwood from what ive seen as a player and as a pro, ino mcnish hasnt featured much but the plan probably wasnt for him to walk straight into the team this season, been really impressed in what ive seen of him when he has had a chance he certainly didnt look out of place at all in particular the liverpool game i thought he was fantastic kept the ball well good passing he certainly suits our style of play, the fact hes made more appearances and been on the bench a little more (ino its not many yes) in the 5 months hes been here than norwood did in 2 years suggests tisdale probably sees alot more in him than norwood.. still feel weve got a talent on our hands with mcnish give him time and hopefully tis could find a place for him.
