On this theme, Preston are quietly having a very good season and are currently in the play-offs. Could Jordan Storey find himself in the Premiership next season.

The starting line up yesterday had seven academy graduates all listed in a row.

In the seven starters listed from Diabate to Stansfield all are academy graduates

7 academy graduates in the starting line up again on Saturday in League One.

Not a novelty but its a fantastic achievement which we could all too easily get blasé about. And this in the first game after MJ left...

And a slightly random aside is that Pierce was the only player in the starting eleven who was neither born within 30 miles of Exeter or in South London.

Well yesterday was pretty special! 5-0 home win. Stanno scores in front of the big bank for the first time.

Ethan wears the captain's armband for the full Wales team for 30+ minutes as they get a Euro qualifiers point away at the team that finished 3rd in the World Cup a few months back.

And the goals and assists yesterday :

Stansfield A Sparkes

Scott A Stansfield

Nombe A Hartridge

Key
A Aimson

Mitchell A Hartridge

2 goals, 4 assists from academy graduates involving 4 different academy graduates with involvement in all 5 goals (and the best goal of all should have been the set up by Key and Stansfield for Archie!)

Yup - I've lost track now of how many games we have started with 5 x academy players like yesterday and at one point we had 6 on the pitch!

Just imagine if we had five loanees instead of five Academy players. Wait a minute, I'll just drive down the A38 to see investment in local talent.

Heading towards/will we make it to 500? I think there's been 68 first team games since then (December 2022) in all competitions, all with at least one academy graduate starting. Is it about 8 years for this record?
