Wheeler is on a season long loan at Portsmouth. Not sure if he can be recalled or whether we or anyone else could have him, depends on the detailed wording of the loan agreement, though he hasn't played for QPR this season

Also, he came on as a sub. for Pompey on Boxing Day and is on the bench at Norwich at the moment, so they have clearly not given up on him

And now on, albeit in the 92nd minute, but Pompey score almost immediately...

Injury and Pompie's current success could well account for Wheelers lack of action, it's criminal. Played the right way and concentrating on his circus like abilities would make him a first team player anywhere!

Get in a bid for the summer Matt! Can see Adams being in for him as well considering he made a bid for him when with us.

Be surprised if he came back at the moment, didn’t he move up to Bristol for the last 12 months of his contract with us.

Yes, he and his partner bought a flat in Clifton. She is a teacher at a local girls school, IIRC.

Don’t think we have a car coming down from Bristol anymore for training do we? the logistics of any loan move back would be far from idea for him!

He played a small part in the goal too - commented on by the MOTD pundits.

According to Joe Gallen (our assistant manager) Wheeler is keen to stay. He's been unlucky that he's been stuck behind one of the division's surprise packages this season, who has stayed fit. He's had a couple of annoying injuries that have held him back too.

I think he might end up with us permanently. We'll lose one or two to teams with more money - if not this month in the summer - and Wheeler feels very much a Kenny Jackett type player.
