Going back a bit further, I share Alan Banks' memories of playing Chesterfield in a midweek game ! We beat them 6-1 at home in the penultimate game 1963-4, which set us up for our first ever promotion, with an away draw in the final match.

Boy how I'd love a repeat on Tuesday night ! UTC
CB you just beat me to it and if memory serves me right that win followed a surprise defeat by Bradford, not sure whether it was City or Park Avenue, at SJP on the previous Saturday.

Seem to recall it was a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Bradford Park Avenue.

I have a very bad memory of playing Chesterfield on a Tuesday night.
Oh crikey yep had forgotten that - or rather erased from my memory

Just checked, and indeed it was Park Ave. Goals from Banks 2, Curtis, Thorne 2 and Rees. Att 9449.

Yep I thought so but was not sure when Bradford Park Avenue lost their league status and whether they were still a league side then.

Me too, one of my worst birthday presents. But at least Stanno scored...

Can see a stodgy 0-0 or 0-1 sadly. They’re a strong side and deserve to be at the top

I believe we will be the team that puts a stop to their winning run. City to win 3-1 with 451 Grecians in attendance.

City will teach Accrington the meaning of patience.

Or another 3-2 away win

Tis hinting at weaker squad than last Saturday in today’s press conference, with nobody coming back from injury and a couple others struggling to make it
