£1m for Grimes

Wow.
Let's hope so indeed.
£1.7 million is a club-changing amount for an outfit like us. :) :) :)
It would be a shame for him not come back on loan for the rest of the season but £1.75m is a heck of a lot of money for us and when you add on the potential £250k which we are in with a chance of winning from the SKYBET transfer fund (can only be spent on SIGNING a player) then all of a sudden we have a real chance to push on.

As a side point imagine being Matt Grimes and going from £500 a week up to potentially £10k a week! Good lad and deserves it (as much as anybody can 'deserve' footballer wages!).

How much?? GorblimeyO'Riley! The Daily Mail will hopefully be right about this. They are usually only right in the political sense of the word.

If it's just Swansea after him then £1m is good money, but if others rate him there is no reason why he can't make more. Good negotiations are needed to maximize the return. We must get decent addons as well, and ones that we can get, not ones where he gets to his 19th appearance and they sell him to stop him triggering an add on, as per stevenage etc. for example.
mupp's, stevenage tried to be smart, but apparently these scenarios are covered and we w were paid retrospectively. might go to explain why dunne signed a 12 mnth deal after he returned to stevenage from st johnstone? and was then sold straight away for a 5 figure sum to portsmouth

As has been mentioned on Exeweb before, Tis told the East Devon Grecians that Grimes was worth it:

Q: I’ve seen a report that says Matt Grimes is worth a million.

PT: Yes, at least!

The cheque should be made payable to neither, it should be to the club. It 'owns' Grimes, the Trust doesn't and neither does the club board.
Correct as far as it goes but the Club owes the Trust a shed load of money by way of loans.

As the Club has proved itself incapable of good financial management the Trust should call in its loans and invest for future stability. This money must not be squandered.

Great for us in terms of business of course and hopefully a good career move for Matt G.

2 minute hobble from the nearest pub. Or in it.

I'm pretty much in agreement with the principle of this, but hope that a significant amount will remain to bolster the playing budget and future development both on and off the pitch.
