A small point relating to the sodden ground.

Looking at things from the NGS, lino was squelching though mud on the line closest to the away end while there was virgin turf on the line leading up to the Big Bank. Opposite on the IPS side of course.

Why not alternate ? Or is there some rigid rule on this ?
The touchline on the IP Office stand side was dug up during the close season 17/18, new drainage installed and an artificial strip installed. Apart from making it less boggy for the lino, it also means the players warming up during the game, do so on similarly less boggy ground. No idea if there is any p!an to replicate this on the SASS side this close season.

Harsh. Some of those eight players were in no position to influence the play.

So just who was the City player whose pass took EIGHT Newport players out of the game ? Could it have been the much criticised Pierce Sweeney ? Shirley not ???

Sweeney is often looking for a forward pass. This does lead to him giving away possession on a few occasions. However, I would rather lose possession being positive rather than playing negative over cautious passes like in the Tisdale era. For a club like us, Sweeney is a decent player who is under rated for the job he does for the team.

Have to agree.
Sweeney can be frustrating to watch, because he does give the ball away and puts the odd pass straight in to touch. But he is a solid defender and does have the ability to play that killer ball now and again.
He wouldn’t be playing in League Two if he could do it all the time.

Williams isn’t defensively minded and lots of people seem to overlook the extra pressure that puts on Sweeney at the back. He’s having another solid season, I think he’ll go on to make hundreds of appearances for us.

As I thought, their keeper will be disappointed to have let that shot in. I dont quite know how it got in between him and the post. If Maxted had let that in there'd be 100+ more posts commenting on it.

It went through two defenders with pace at a three quarters dive length all along the deck (Always the harder save to make in my mind because you don't quite dive but neither do you drop down) and you can't work out how it went in. Really?
