I have had bad experiences with mass produced tasteless wedges of mush described as "cheesecake." As an open minded sort of chap I am ready to be persuaded that somewhere out there I am missing one of life's pleasures. Recipes please.

As I said in my post to which you quoted, the eating establishment do mahoosive home made cheesecakes. If its a lemon type cheesecake then it is fine without cream. But a chocolate based cheesecake needs a drizzle of cream. The link below shows how mahoosive these cheesecakes and other desserts are.

How about some branstons pickle with cheesecake? After all it is cheese in a cake.

The elephants foot is a choux pastry, not a cheesecake and you're welcome.

A classic case of quantity over quality.

It appalls me to see something like this described as a cheesecake.
