Indeed Steve. Lest we also forget those who cycled, flew and jogged. In addition we may have to take into consideration the Herefordshire Exiles and SAS contingent. The problem with the latter is their exact numbers and whereabouts cannot be confirmed due to the 30 year secrecy rules.

But the ground capacity at Newport was only 589.

1723 AD? Hmmmmmm:S

It Must have been the Parish and District League with the Grecians of St Sidwell's taking on the Argyle side of the River XI, played on neutral Exe Island. Mike Blackstone must have the programme somewhere and can tell you the attendance.;)

I remember going to Newport back in the day. One side was closed due to the nettles being about 4ft high. :)
