Referee David Rock’s Embarrassing Red Card Overturned

The FA have confirmed that the red card issued to Exeter City’s Will Aimson on Tuesday night has been rescinded. Exeter City appealed the red card when it was clear that there had been no foul on Charlton Athletics’s Alfie May by Will Aimson. Exeter City’s captain was a facing a three match ban.

This is not the first time the referee David Rock has made a hash of an Exeter City game. In December 2021 he allowed an offside Harry Knibbs score a late winner for Cambridge United in a second round FA Cup game. Cambridge United drew Newcastle United in the third Round. He later apologised for mistake.

The statement from the FA reads:-

Exeter City’s William Aimson will be available for their next three matches following a successful claim of wrongful dismissal.

The defender was sent off for serious foul play during their EFL League One game against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday, 3 October.

Alfie May was voted as player of the match by Charlton fans and the EFL included him in their team of midweek.
