Zak Jules Débuts for Exeter City

Zak Jules made his début for Exeter City on Saturday, coming on in the 72nd minute of the pre-season friendly with Coventry City at St James Park. The game finished 2-1 to Coventry City.

Zak Jules signed on a permanent contract on Friday from MK Dons for an undisclosed fee. The 26-year-old has signed a one year contract with the option of a second. The 6ft 3in player played 41 times for MK Dons last season scoring twice and yellow carded seven times.

Zak Jules was born in Islington and has represented Scotland at U17 through U21 level. He came through the Reading Academy though he didn’t play for Reading’s first team. He has played for Braintree, Motherwell, Shrewsbury, Chesterfield, Port Vale, Barnet, Macclesfield, Walsall and MK Dons. He’s played 152 first team games since December 2016.

Gary Caldwell said of his latest signing:-

I think he’s experienced in League One, that is what we’ve been looking for, somebody that knows the league.

He has had real success in the league finishing in the playoffs the season before last with MK Dons and he is somebody I know. Previously I signed him on loan at Chesterfield, so I know the character, I know the person and his career has really kicked on since then.

I think the club appealed to him, he was really excited at the project, he was really excited at coming to the environment we have created here at Cliff Hill and I am sure he is eager to get in and training with the boys.

Zak Jules said of his move to Exeter:-

Delighted to be here, delighted to finally get it done, there has been a little of talk for a little while now, so to get it over the line, I am really happy.

I think the club is on the up, I feel like it’s on an upward trajectory and that is something that I want to be a part of, I also know Gary Caldwell, Ihave worked under him before and I enjoyed my time playing under him. I have always said he is a manager that I would want to work for again at some stage in my career.
