Grecians and Robins Honour the 96

For anyone who’s followed the events of the last 25 years relating to the deaths at the semi-final of the FA Cup at Hillsborough Ethen this week has been a difficult week. Finally a proper inquest into those deaths that occurred at the beginning of the game between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. The inquest is expected to last a year and this has seen the testimonials from family and loved ones of those that died. Anyone reading them will not have been able to escape the emotion of those family members relating those that lost their lives from the simple fact of attending a football match.

Today the football league in England and the Conference paid their respects. All kick offs were Adelayed by 6 minutes and then a minutes silence was held across grounds today that held a football match.

The players entered the field to the song “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. The minute silence was impeccably observed at St James Park today by players, officials and both set of supporters.  Well done to all.
