Jepson Out, Flitcroft In at Bury FC

It had been expected that Ronnie Jepson would be safe in the manager’s job at Bury FC until January. But with Barnsley recently sacking David Flitcroft after a poor run of results it was an opportunity for the Bury Chairman to bring Flitcroft straight back in to football manager. exeter_bury_feat

The 39 yeard old Flitcroft played for Bury between 2004 and 2006 with the midfielder making 122 appearances and scoring 4 goals.  On the appointment Chairman Stewart Day said:-

I have been a long-time admirer of David and what he achieved at Barnsley was a credit to him and to his philosophy of hard work and dedication. This is my first managerial appointment as a chairman and it needed to be the right one. Hence I would not be rushed.

I knew the first year would be difficult both on and off the pitch, but promise to continue to work tirelessly to deliver the 5 year plan. All I can ask is that then fans come out on Saturday to give our new manager the support he deserves and start the march back up the league

Former Exeter City striker Ronnie Jepson was clearly at his departure from Bury FC. Speaking to the Bury official website he said:-

I met with the chairman last night; he’s a fantastic fella, he just wants to do what’s best for Bury Football Club. We had a chat about one or two things and he has decided to bring in David Flitcroft who’s a really good guy. The chairman wants an overhaul so I understand exactly where he is coming from. jepson_bury_feat

I’ll leave the club with my head held high, as I believe that I have done a decent job only losing 2 in the last 8 league games. I think that I have managed to galvanise the lads together as a group. The new management coming in has a good set of players and with 2 or 3 additions they will have a top team.

I’ve just been to say goodbye to the lads as I know how much they were working for me, which is important and the chairman realises that. All I can do now is just wish them all the best.

When Bury played at St James Park recently Jepson received a warm reception from Exeter officials and supporters.
