Kevin Amankwaah moves to Northampton Town
Kevin Amankwaah has signed for Aidy Boothroyd’s Northampton Town in a 1 year old deal.
The release of the 31 year old by the Grecians at the end of last season came as a surprise to many Exeter City fans, who had a preference for Amankwaah over Steve Tully. Mainly for the pace that Amankwaah had over Tulls.
Kevin played 36 games in all for Exeter after his move from Rochdale. He suffered a first minute injury at St James Park against Dagenham & Redbridge and didn’t feature again last season.
Boothroyd said:-
He is exactly what we need. He has a presence, he is good size but he is a footballing full-back,” said the former Watford boss. He knows all about League 2 and what is required. He is a promotion winner in the past and he is a good professional to be coming in to our dressing room.
He is different to what we have and his arrival is a boost for us.
