Matt Oakley Signs for the 2013/14 Season

While it’s hardly been a secret, Exeter City have now announced through the local paper that Matt Oakley has signed on the dotted line for next season.

An important part of Paul Tisdale’s tactical plan, the kingpin will be welcomed back by fans. Matt was absent through injury after the Gillingham game last season. His absence coincided with a decline in the Grecians fortunes which saw the Club gain just 1 point from 21.

Despite his reputation of being injury prone, Matt played 37 times last season in all competitions . He may have supplied many assists, but he has yet to score for the Grecians. But his role as City’s number 8, is to create the opportunities and no doubt John O’Flynn and Sam Parkin will be hoping that he is at the top of his form.
