City Lack Fight in Devon Derby (Again)

For the 2nd time this season, Exeter City lose to a Devon opponent 1-0. After the frustration of losing to Torquay United at St James Park 1-0 in front of the TV cameras, the Grecians headed to Home Park where another defeat was served up to the Argyle_away_11635 travelling fans.

City fans accuse the Exeter players of not having any spirit and not being up for a fight this season in any of the Devon Derby games. Lacklustre being one of the more polite turn of phrases. Too timid and not up for a scrap. Argyle being the one opposition that Grecian fans want a positive result more than any other, and this morning are feeling very let down.

It’s 20 years since we’ve won at Home Park in the league (10 April 1993, a 3-0 win under management of Alan Ball). A 2-1 win in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in November 2010 being the exception to a too long list of defeats.

So, what is Paul Tisdale’s record against Plymouth?

League 2 30/03/2013  Plymouth 1 – 0 Exeter L
League 2 15/12/2012  Exeter 1 – 1 Plymouth D
JPT 30/08/2011  Exeter 1 – 1 Plymouth D City win 3-0 on penalties
League 1 30/04/2011  Exeter 1 – 0 Plymouth W
League 1 11/12/2010  Plymouth 2 – 0 Exeter L
JPT 09/11/2010  Plymouth 1 – 2 Exeter W

We’ve struggled to beat Argyle, irrespective of their form, even when Argyle have been poor we’ve not been convincing. They seem to be able to raise their game, but not ours?
