Phil Brown Named as Southend United Manager

Phil Brown has been named as the new manager of Southend United. This follows the departure of Paul Sturrock at the weekend.

Brown, best knwon in his management career for taking Hull City to the Premier League in 2008, but has not managed a club since 2011. He left Preston North End, where after 51 games in charge, he manage to leed PNE to just 15 wins. He started his career as a player for Hartlepool, but made his name playing for Bolton Wanderers between 1988 and 1994 where he made over 250 appearances.
