Happy 29th Birthday to Billy Jones

A happy 29th birthday to Billy Jones. Born this day on 26th June 1983.

Billy is currently out of contract with Exeter City, though he has been offered a new contract, it will be on reduced terms since our relegation to League 2. Will the departure of Troy Archibald-Henville change anything we might wonder.

William Jones started his career with Leyton Orient, making his debut for them in a 0-0 draw against Kidderminster Harriers in February 2001. That was his only appearance that season for Orient. He played 20 times the following season, and managed a yellow card in a 0-0 against the Grecians! He made 68 appearances for Leyton Orient before moving to the team he made his debut against, Kidderminster Harriers. He moved in January 2005 on a free transfer.

He played 10 times for Kidderminster Harriers before moving in May to Exeter City on a free. He had an excellent spell with the Grecians, playing 85 Conference games and scoring 17 goals in 2 seasons. He then moved to Crewe for a fee of £65k.

Having played 75 times for Crewe (with 8 goals) he returned to League 1 Exeter City. A fairly mixed time in his 2nd spell with City would be a fair assessment, though his spell this year up until he was injured in February showed him back to his best.

We wait for him to sign a new contract or confirm that he is leaving for good. Hopefully, that decision is imminent as that would be best for all parties.

Happy Birthday William.
