Looking forward....
2016 Chateau Meyney, St Estephe.
People were suggesting this is a bit too young still, but I think it's good to go. It's got another decade in it for sure but it's open for business already. Chocolate, mice pie, not a whole lot of primary fruit left (quince?). Tannins are very archetypal of St Estephe, very fuzzy, coarse grained and mouth coating - a distinctive trait of this terroir. Blind I would struggle to tell this apart from Chateau Montrose in a lesser year, less intensity but more friendly on both wallet and palate.
At 30 quid a bottle this was not a "cheap" wine, but it's 5 times cheaper than Montrose so I'm glad I bought a few cases to experience its evolution over the coming years.
You are jilly goolden and I claim my £5.🙂

St Peter's Cream Stout. Thought I'd try this as it's gluten free and I'm now intolerant (used to love a bit of gluten me). You wouldn't know the difference and at 6.5% vol it's hitting the spot.

Early days yet but I'll stick my neck out and say three more of these and I'll tek the feckin lorra yuz.

I've been meaning to try Japanese Whisky for a while as a few friends have recommended it. Bought a bottle of The Chita which is made by Suntory Whisky........and it is fantastic

It's the only place other than Scotland which makes genuinely great whisky.
I had a 15 year old Nikka back in 2007 when I was in Hokkaido that blew me away. Sadly it's long since discontinued but it was probably the best whisky I've ever experienced.

Just had a look online, there is a bottle for sale from a private collection for £1k... I paid about £20 for my bottle. I shouldnt have drunk it I guess.

Well I won’t be trying anything with that price tag but looking forward to trying others. Any tips at a more reasonable price tag will be greatly appreciated 😀

Anything from the Yoichi distillery is probably great. It's a very old, traditional method Scottish style production setup there. Coal fired, small stills, aged and stored right by the coastline in cold conditions. For me it's similar to things like Bowmore, lightly peated, saline, but still friendly and easy going. Its sad that Yoichi discontinued all their aged statement whiskies, maybe in 10 years time we will see them again at which point I will be stocking up.

Thanks for the tip, and if you haven’t tried the one I’ve got I thoroughly recommend it
