Johnny Cash's version of Hurt is one of the great covers and is only enhanced by a great video featuring his wife. It isn't often I think a song is made stronger by the accompanying video but this is definitely one as well as Monsters. Sinead O'Connor and Nothing Compares 2 U springs to mind as well.
I think the band that wrote the song Nine Inch Nails? heard Johnny Cash's version and said this was his song and "Gave" it to him, Praise indeed. Sinead O'Connor smashed that song, Brilliantly sang by her.
