T'was The Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, City players in their bed
Paul Tisdale was snoring, starting eleven in his head
LogieS stocking hung over the fire, with a list for St Nic.
“A place up front at Southampton Santa”, that’ll do the trick.
In the house of Barry Corr the Irishman dreamt of scoring
Whilst back home in his country I had whiskey to be pouring
Fermenting my hops, hoping in bottles they would fit
For it’s Christmas Eve again, and that means the home brew kit!

For as Cozic and Taylor dreamt of St Mary’s fine stand,
I was knee deep in plonk with some chardonnay in one hand
Made in two hours flat and fermenting under my bed
The drink was so rough it would bring life to the dead.

My family was nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of Christmas Ale foamed around in their heads.
Sandra in her kerchief lamented the drought,
She craved a pilsner but I wanted stout.

When out on the lawn, there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what the matter.
Away to the kitchen, I flew like a flash,
Opening the door with a loud bang and crash!

I go to the door and to my surprise it’s St Nick
“How you doing Santa – want a beer? Take your pick”
I’ve got lager and Stout and some spirits today”
You should sip on the sherry but don’t touch the chardonnay”

“I can stay my dear Brian I’ve got three points to deliver”
And I never drink spirits; they’ve made a mess of my liver
Off to Devon I and the reindeers must go
Mr Tisdale needs my help so it’s on with the show.

Now Rudolph was thirsty and licking his lips
So he drank the chardonnay and made away with my chips
And while Santa gave presents as the tree-top angel dangled
Rudolph and the reindeers where getting absolutely mangled.

As he went to his sleigh to get himself back on track
He was meet with eight reindeers all flat on their back
You see Prancer & Dancer had Gin on their mouth
Vixen got hammered on whiskey and Cupid finished the stout

“What the hell will I do now I can’t go back in the air?”
I wish there was hope but I saw nothing but despair.
Comet & Blixen had made their way through the wine
Whilst Rudolph drunk the Chardonnay, Donner was baked on the wine.

With his rounds still to do one thinK stuck in mind
Would Tiz’s and his men get their three points on time?
Sure Santa had promised a Christmas Eve surprise
But the sight of his alcoholic reindeer brought tears to his eyes.

So to St Mary’s they would go with no points in bag.
With relegation in our face, now this was a drag.
The form wasn’t great and chances looked dim.
Stanno made way for Logie – Santa looked after him!

Southampton expected as only they should.
But so did the Grecians – 1 nil up through Fleetwood.
And amazing first half left the Saints in a stew.
Marriott saved a penalty and Corr made it two.

The next day meant rejoice City out of the bottom four
Whilst Santa recovered and gone out of my door
On his way with his reindeer now all clean and sober
I gave Rudolph six panadol to cure this hangover

Poor Blixen got sick so with a fry up he got fed
Whilst Comet and Dancer slept it off in the bed.
Donner & Prancer had themselves a cold shower
Whilst Vixen and Cupid where given coffee by the hour

So City got their win and my Home brew went down a treat
I gave my mother in law the chardonnay-it knocked her off of her feet
And I raised a glass to my home brew and City’s festive cheer
Merry Christmas to all –and a HOPPY new year.

Hopefully this will come through!!
A happy Xmas and looking forward to travelling for gillingham game to see people.

Many thanks for a titter, Brian, and a happy Christmas to you. Just one question though.

Is Rudolph a Torquay fan?
