There are a few very capable people on the Trust board but, in essence, I make you right.

Thoughts on the future of The Trust? Does it have a viable one (future that is)?

The whole Trust concept is based on inferiors being involved in the decision making process. It plainly does not work effectively in British football and inevitably leads to stagnation and apathy. The Trust to help save a Club is all that it is good for...we need to stop the Trust model from suffocating the life out of Exeter City Football Club and seek real private investment from people who know how to run a business properly and are prepared to invest their money into the venture. The Trust Board seem made up of either council employees or at best mediocre individuals (often one and the same) the club board seem no better in quality....is it any wonder the club is struggling off the pitch as well as on it.

The Trust will be the death of the Club

Chucks,

Would you be happy if the club remained trust run and a businessman pumped money into, and run the club. A bit like a Devon Barcelona, or German team?

Is that "Invest" as in "give the club all their money and never expect to see it back again"?

Egg, can you expand on 'capable' - do we have people that are well versed in governance? And if so could they mentor others on the key aspects of governance?
John William appeared to have some expertise in this area; are there others?

Governance is not difficult (most of it is common sense). The problem comes when you add politics to the mix and people in positions of control who have their own agendas. Thats what we have at City, people in control working for their own agenda and not for the good of the club.

People are taking money out of the club but this time in a legitimate manner. The net effect is the same though.

Yes, however I don't think it would work in the UK. We currently have 2 boards (feck knows how this pathetic situation arose). A Club Board made up people who haven't invested any of their own money into the Club and seem to get paid and a Trust Board, who haven't invested any of their own money into the Club, don't get paid and have no real say....nobody has anything to lose. The Club lack any defined leadership or direction and the Club manager appears untouchable even if City lost the next 10 games.

Football is about results on the pitch and results off the pitch....yet at Exeter Pity/Exeter Pretty apathy and lethagy appear all encompassing and winning has been replaced with "it's taking part that counts"...."at least we have a club to support".

Put the Club up for sale and stop the slow Trust death.
