Apart from the sending off I wonder if anyone is examing how Rock missed the blatant encroachment by May enabling the tw@ to score from the penalty save.

That encroahment is so borderline I couldnt expect the linesman to pick up on that in real time. I thought the example was going to be more conclusive.

There is a truth to that of sorts.
However the rule is there and two officials are available to look for infringements in a dead ball situation with no other confusion or complications.
Crucially, the couple of yards May steals on the defenders led to him scoring after an initial save.

So poor refereeing but kind of par for the course.

It’s borderline because it’s an opposition player. Were it one of ours encroaching like that it would be labeled as blatant cheating and the guilty party would be declared extremely lucky not to receive a retrospective lengthy ban. We’d then be offered the opinion that such shenanigans never occurred in the City teams of the 50s and 60s.
