Used to work with a lad who drunk in the New inn in alphington & he said he used to see Noble in there with a couple other city players on Friday nights having a few few beers.

He's well known for liking a beer or 10 is Noble

Jason Roy 173 not out broken the record for England's highest ODI score....

Look at the top 5 - Roy , Bairstow , Hales , Root , Morgan its better than the test top 5

I surely can’t be the only one who doesn’t really see the need for specialists in the three forms. You can’t be that good as a professional cricketer if you can only last ten minutes blasting 50 of ten balls instead of grinding out 70 in six hours to save a game. Isn’t a good cricketer a good cricketer regardless of which form of the game he plays? Plenty seem to manage all three well enough.

100% agree.

But it's just the way it's gone.

No reason why Hales or Roy couldn't play Test cricket - David Warner was a supposedly a one day or twenty20 player and he's got a superb test record.

Root plays all 3 forms and just adapts to the situation of the game - hence why he's 77* off 93 balls ticking over while Roy smashed it at the other end....

Play the ODI team as a full test side, tell them to imagine it's a one dayer then after 50 overs tell them it's another one dayer.

Top-class players usually manage this, but lots of players just can't do it.

Hales certainly, I think the only reason he wasn't picked for the Ashes was because of the Bristol incident (and he wasn't as highly valued as Stokes so easier to dispense with). He lost out due to his refusal to tour Bangladesh but was doing OK in the Test team.

Morgan just doesn't cut it in the red ball game - he was available for Middx for most of last season and couldn't even get in our (relegated - boooooo!) side. Roy is very up and down - clearly capable but not consistent, lest we forget he was even dropped from the ODI side a short while back when he couldn't buy a run.

Anyway, in other news, Ben Stokes has been cleared to play for England.
